Birth of Prohpet Muhammad (PBUH) with Blessings
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was born in Makkah in the Islamic month of Rabi ul Awwal. He was the son of Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib and Amina bint Wahb. His father, Abdullah, the son of the Quraysh tribal leader Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim, died a few months before Muhammad’s birth. The mother of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) named him Ahmad, and his grandfather named him Muhammad.
In that time, it was a tradition to protect their children from city infections and to teach them classical Arabic and other skills. They send their child to foster mothers who feed the child for a limited time. In return, they receive a salary from the family of the child in Mecca.
In the Banu Sa’d tribe, women within the tribe served as foster mothers. The Prophet’s foster mother was Halima Saadia, who belonged to the Sa’d bin Bakar tribe. Halima’s husband was Al-Harith bin Abdul Uzza. While traveling to Mecca, her camel stopped lactating for Halima’s children due to drought. In Mecca, all those looking for foster children rejected taking care of the half-orphan because they feared not getting paid since his father was dead. Halima felt sad that every woman in her tribe had received a child except her. So she told her husband, Al-Harith: “By God, I do not like the idea of returning with my friends without a child; I will go and take that orphan.” Her husband agreed.
Halima once said, ‘Then I took Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and when I entered my tent with the child, blessings immediately started coming to me and my family. When my husband started washing the udder of that camel, he saw that the camel’s udder had filled with milk, and we drank milk until our stomachs were full.
In the morning, when the caravan got ready to go back to their places, I sat on the she-donkey again, which was very slow and disrupted me during our journey to Mecca. Then, when I sat with the child, the donkey’s speed increased very fast, and the caravan people started asking if that was the same donkey. I said yes, and everyone was amazed by that.
The caravan reached Banu Sa’ad again, and Halima witnessed more miracles. When her goats went to eat grass, they came back with full udders of milk, despite the drought. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) grew rapidly, having a strong body within two years. After two years, when Halima and her husband returned to hand the child over to his mother, Amina, they requested permission from Amina to keep the child with them for some more time, fearing the infections in Mecca, even though it wasn’t true, as they were just inspired by the blessings from the Prophet. Amina granted permission to Halima. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) stayed with Halima until the age of 4 or 5 years. One day, while Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was playing with his friends, Angel Jibrael (A.S) came and held him, lying him on the bed. Then, he made a cut on Prophet’s chest, pulled out his heart, and said it was part of the devil. He washed it with the water of Zamzam and then placed it back.
Other children went to Halima and said that Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had been killed. When they went there, they saw Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) becoming pale. After this incident, Halima became afraid and felt danger, so she sent Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) back to his mother, Amina, at the age of 6. Then he started living with his mother, Amina.
When Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was 6 years old, his mother took him to Yathrib to visit her husband and Prohpet’s Father Abdullah’s grave. They stayed there for one month, and then, when they start travel to Mecca, Amina fell ill. Her condition worsened during the journey, and on the way to Mecca, she passed away. She was buried in the village of Al-Abwa. Then, in old age Abdul Mutallib took his grandson Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H to Mecca. His heart was full of love for his grandson. He loved Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H more than his children. When Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was eight years old, his grandfather, Abdul-Muttalib, passed away. He made a will to entrust Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H’s responsibility to his son, the uncle of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H, named Abu Talib. His uncle fulfilled his responsibility with great love, treating him as one of his own children and granting him power and respect.
